The Wilderness Gallery, at Cradle Mountain, is a purpose-built gallery showcasing environmental photography. The Gallery is located at the Cradle Mountain Chateau, two-and-a-half hours' west of Launceston (144 kilometres/90 miles) and ninety minutes from Devonport (83 kilometres/52 miles). The Wilderness Gallery exhibits up to 250 images by some of Australia and the world's best wilderness and nature photographers. Ten linked galleries - built around an enclosed garden of rocks and native plants - display breathtaking images by photographers working in some of the world's wildest and most remote places. Scuba divers, rock climbers, kayakers, bushwalkers and expeditioners have all participated in the Gallery's program of exhibitions. Photographers whose work has been featured at the Gallery include Rob Blakers, Grant Dixon, Jane Davenport and Richard Bennett. The gallery area also includes two small theatrettes to show film video and computer images. The Wilderness Gallery is open daily and entry is free for guests of the Cradle Mountain Chateau.
